Romania ranked high on WCG 2006:

• silver @ FIFA ’06 – Ovidiu Patrascu
• quarter finalist @ Need For Speed Most Wanted – Cristi Rus (defeated by Alan Enileev which afterwards became world champion)

My guess we would’ve won at FIFA ’07 for sure as I saw it on a .ro torrent tracker even before it’s official release date and NFS Carbon will prolly follow real, real soon. Tough luck for Counter Strike fans, though.
