WPA Enterprise on HTC Touch 3G

HTC Touch 3G supports WPA and WPA2 authentication. However, if you don’t have a certificate authority properly set up and you’re using PEAP (instead of personal certificates) for authentication, things tend to get messy. In order to make it work you need to:

Hack into the registry (I use Dotfred’s Task Manager) and add a new key (making your device not check server certificate’s validity – which fails since it’s usually self-signed):

HKLM\Comm\EAP\Extension\25\ValidateServerCert = DWORD:00000000
```
Add a new connection:
- Enter SSID (network name), connection type and SSID visibility
- Select WPA2 authentication and AES encryption
- Select EAP: PEAP – Do not bother trying to access the PEAP properties, you will be presented with an error: Cannot log on to the network. This network requires a personal certificate to positively identify you.
- Click Finish
You will be prompted to login using an username, password and domain. If you’re having problem authenticating, leave the domain blank and rather put user@domain.tld in username to specify it

This is going to upset a lot of iPhone fans but, apparently, the HTC Touch 3G (official specifications) is faster than the iPhone 3G in real life, as you can see in the following comparison:

Now that we’ve established that, I must be honest and confess that I’m am not a phone testing expert and I tend to judge things superficially. Don’t get your buying tips from guys on the Internet! Try before you buy! Or take your chance and read the rest!

Is the new iPhone more expensive?

Everybody is talking about it: the iPhone 3G was officially announced. And although until now I tried to stay out of this frenzy, the new specs and availability to global markets is making it more and more appealing.

Of course, it took less than a couple of hours for Nokia fanboys to raise their voice. And since the tech specs are pretty much hard to top, they picked on the price.

Eye-Fi Wireless SD Card

Now this is SD 2.0: Eye-Fi, an SD card with WiFi so you can copy your pictures from your camera without removing the card.

The card comes with custom software which installs on your computer and detects when the card is connected to the same network. Then you can copy pictures to your computer and even upload them to different photo sharing and social networking sites.

Of course, there are a couple of hacks, most notably those by Dave Hansen.

The card is already in stock at Amazon for $99 (2GB).

Flash Gets Vista PWNed

It seems only Linux is still standing at the end on this year’s PWN 2 OWN. The Mac was first down after only 2 minutes. SP1 Vista did a little better and could only be cracked after Adobe Flash was installed.

MacBook Air Hacked In Less Than 2 Minutes

I was reading the other day about this year’s PWN 2 OWN competition. We’ll it looks like there’s already a big ~~winner~~ looser: the MacBook Air, which was hacked in less than 2 minutes. I guess Apple’s OS is all talk and no walk:

Mac OS X was designed for high security, so it isn’t plagued by constant attacks from viruses and malware like PCs.

So, if you’re in the market for a highly portable laptop, you might wanna stick to Dell’s XPS M1330. And if you want it hacked real quickly, the XPS can also be installed with Mac OS (though there are some issues with drivers for Ethernet card).
