You’ve heard of football, ay’? 22 guys in shorts chasing a ball around the field. Who’d think this can cause such high passions? Well, it does. Football supporters are very passionate about their teams. And this can quickly escalade to acts of hooliganism. And it does. That’s what Green Street Hooligans is showing, in a tone that’s sometimes brutal but yet touching.

Matt Buckner (Elijah Wood) has been kicked out of Harvard and lands in England where he meets the Green Street Elite (West Ham United biggest and most aggresive supporters). He quickly get used to their acts of foolish violence. The story evolves quickly into a painful one. One that matches the reality.
PS: Romanian fans (especially those of teams from Bucharest) seem to have developed a keen interest for acting as hooligans… maybe some of them will get the chance to see this movie, it might give them something to think about
