(Almost) Weekly Roundup #2
Written by Vlad on November 7, 2006 – 8:21 pmHere goes:
- TechRepublic
- BoingBoing
- Engadget
- Lifehacker
- Firefox extension to remote control uTorrent (ok, the uTorrent web interface has been in public beta for a while now, but then there’s the extension)
- Yahoo! Biz
- Google
- Gmail mobile client (excellent, if only I could use it to get all my mobile email, via POP3)
- CNET News
- Google Blogoscoped
- SvN
There were some more but my ISP ate my homework, that’s all I recovered from Drafts.

Written by Vlad on November 1, 2006 – 7:57 amVia Official Google Blog: JotSpot is now a part of Google! This will probably mean free wikis for everyone really soon!
The amount for the purchase is confidential and they’ve already started migrating the accounts to Google’s system. New accounts are closed but there’s a notification list to which you can subscribe.

Schumacher’s Retirement Gift: An Island In Dubai
Written by Vlad on October 25, 2006 – 12:48 pmLast evening I was just watching o documentary on the building of Pal Jumeirah on Discovery (in their Mega Builders series) and in the morning I found this piece of news on updatef1.com:
Dubai’s crown prince – Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum – reportedly decided to give the retiring German a piece of the man-made island paradise “The World” (map), located off the coast of the United Arab Emirates.
At an estimated value of $7 mil. I’d say it’s a nice present. Schumi’s well worth it anyway.

Google Taking Over
Written by Vlad on October 12, 2006 – 12:13 pmRecently having bought YouTube, launched Spreadsheets & Docs (ie Writely) and featuring beta Code Search (bye bye Krugle, here comes Google) and great improvements to Reader (cya Bloglines!) it seems that nothing can stop Google from taking over the web.
Ah, and did I mention Picasaweb, Notebook and Calendar? You know them links…
PS: wishlist for Google
- Single login and STAY logged in. Yes, that means AdSense too!
- Merging multiple accounts/aliases into one.
