Stats: August 2005

I was looking over this blog’s visitor stats and thought I’d let you in on the data for last month:

  • unique visitors: 4433 (down 300 from previous month)
  • page views: 6315 (down 183 from previous month)
  • top 3 referring TLDs:

  • .uk – 179
  • .ro – 123
  • top 3 referring search engines:
    • Google – 1888
    • Altavista – 150
    • Yahoo! – 45
  • top 5 Google search strings
    • veridian room – although it’s misspelt
    • michael jordan’s house
    • philips perfectdraft
    • sopranos theme
    • thecrims
  • top Altavista search strings are all for Smash Mouth’s “All Star”
  • top 3 most visited pages
  • top browsers
    • IE – 67.39% (down 4% from previous month)
    • Firefox – 20.19% (up 2.8% from previous month)
  • screen resolutions larger than 800×600: all except 0.2% having 640%480 and 4.56% unknown
  • operating systems
    • Mac – 4.67% MacOSX + 0.56% Mac Power PC
    • Unknown – 2.45%
    • Linux – 1.32%
    • Windoze – you figure out the rest, it’s too many flavours to sum up (largest cut is Windows Xp – 76.32%)

    That’s it for now, I’ll be making another one in January with all year round stats.

    Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2)

    It seems that everybody is talking about it. Microsoft claims it’s the cure for most of system administrator’s headaches. IBM doesn’t recomend it yet: “While this patch may be good news for other Microsoft Windows XP owners, IBM is directing XP users not to install SP2″.

    BBSpot presents a list of Top 11 Updates That Aren’t in Windows XP Service Pack 2. Among them, my favourite: Pre-installed MyDoom virus.

    FlipStart: Palm Held PC

    Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, had gathered a team to develop “a computer as powerful and easy to use as a desktop model, but small enough to fit in a pocket”. Originally dubbed Vulcan miniPC, it was shown at DEMO 2004 unde the name FlipStart.
